Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation services aim to improve your function and help you adjust to life at home, in your community and at work.

Each transition to life after service is unique. VAC’s Rehabilitation Program is specialized. We provide personalized rehabilitation services as part of your Rehabilitation Plan. This may include medical, psycho-social, and vocational rehabilitation services.

Rehabilitation Appointments

Appointments may be in-person, virtual, or a mix of both. How you receive services depends on your:

  • needs
  • location
  • accessibility
  • language requirements
  • availability of services in your Rehabilitation Plan.

Rehabilitation assessments and services are available from a network of thousands of Rehabilitation Service Professionals across the country to ensure quality access to rehabilitation services.

Participation requirements:

  • Your active participation is important. While the program is voluntary, consistent engagement is required to support your progress. You must be ready to take part as soon as you qualify.
  • Active participation means you agree to:
    • complete consent forms and assessments
    • attend all appointments and activities at the agreed to time and date
    • provide requested information, such as attendance reports, evaluations and progress updates
    • complete outcome measures at required intervals so we can learn about your progress
    • submit feedback surveys so we can learn about your experience
    • follow safety guidelines
  • Absences or extended vacations aren’t permitted during rehabilitation.
  • If you cannot attend an appointment, you must notify the clinic your RSS at least 48 hours before. They will reschedule your appointment.
  • Not showing up for appointments puts unnecessary strain on clinic capacity and prevents others from being able to attend.
The Rehabilitation Program provides access to medical, psycho-social and vocational services that support your unique needs as a Veteran. While they may focus on different aspects of your health, they can all occur simultaneously to help you reach your rehabilitation goals.
