At Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS), our mission is simple: to provide Canadian Veterans with high quality, effective rehabilitation care. Navigating your rehabilitation journey can bring many questions, especially about who is delivering your care. Read more to learn why our network of Rehabilitation Service Professionals (RSPs) is uniquely positioned to support you.

What are the advantages of receiving rehabilitation services from a PCVRS RSP?

PCVRS RSPs receive specialized training, work in a team based approach, and have a commitment to quality assurance.

  1. Veteran-centric Training: PCVRS RSPs complete mandatory, VAC approved training that supports them to meet the unique needs of Canadian Veterans. The training includes:
    • Military Culture Awareness: A better understanding of military life, service, and the transition to civilian life.
    • Veteran-centric Care: Focusing on your individual experience as a Veteran, and ensuring your Rehabilitation Plan respects your history and addresses your rehabilitation goals.
    • Trauma-informed Practices: Recognizing the impact of trauma and using this understanding in every aspect of your rehabilitation journey to promote safety, trust, and healing.
  2. Team Based Approach: Your rehabilitation journey involves various types of support that address your medical, psycho-social, and vocational rehabilitation needs. PCVRS uses an interprofessional model, meaning our RSPs work together as a team.
    • Collaboration: Instead of navigating multiple independent providers, your PCVRS RSPs work together. They communicate (with your consent), share insights, and coordinate their efforts to ensure all aspects of your rehabilitation journey are aligned. PCVRS RSPs can get support from clinical experts, medical directors, and administrative support teams. This helps them work together and get guidance on complex cases, supporting a, "Team Around the Participant" approach.
    • Planning as a Team: This interprofessional approach means all parts of your Rehabilitation Plan work together to give you better results. For example, your psychologist may work directly with your physiotherapist to coordinate care. They can align treatment strategies so that the physical and psychological aspects of your Rehabilitation Plan are addressed at the same time.
    • Positive Outcomes: When all your RSP’s work together like this, it helps you progress better and have positive outcomes. It supports you with consistent, quality care.
  3. Quality Assurance You Can Trust: All PCVRS RSPs use VAC-approved reporting templates. This isn't just paperwork; it's a vital part of our commitment to quality assurance. These standardized templates ensure:
    • Consistent Standards: Every Participant receives care that meets the highest standards.
    • Clear Communication: Your entire rehabilitation team, including your Rehabilitation Service Specialist (RSS) and VAC Case Manager, has a clear, understanding of your progress and needs.
    • Accountability: We can continuously monitor and refine our services to ensure they are effective and truly benefit you.

Your Success, Our Shared Mission

PCVRS RSPs are invested in your rehabilitation journey, bringing specialized rehabilitation knowledge and delivering services designed for your success. They are considered "best in class" because they combine professional expertise with a strong understanding of Veteran needs, providing coordinated, effective, and compassionate rehabilitation care.

We believe this integrated, specialized approach empowers you to restore function, manage symptoms, and enhance your overall quality of life.
