Vocational Rehabilitation Service Specialist (Vocational RSS)

Salary: $75,200.00 Annually

Job Description:
Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS), a national provider for Veterans Affairs Canada, is now welcoming Veterans and their families to a Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Assistance Program. The Rehabilitation Program provides access to medical, psycho-social and vocational services to help ensure a successful transition to life after service for Veterans.

What You’ll Do
- Be part of a team of Rehabilitation Service Specialists in the delivery and coordination of Rehabilitation Services for program participants
- Assist the team to provide superior participant-centered services that lead to successful outcomes in a timely and efficient manner
- Establish and meet caseload and performance metrics
- Ensure service standards and outcomes meet and exceed requirements
- Coordinate all assessments, interpret reports, and provide recommendations for services to support Participants to reach their rehabilitation goals
- The RSS will also coordinate any assessments required for VAC’s Financial Benefits Programs (IRB and CFIS) outside of the Rehabilitation Program
- Coordinate and conduct Vocational Rehabilitation and Vocational Assistance assessments and interventions
What You Bring
- Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Services Professional (CVRP), or a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Services Professional - Fellow (CVRP -F), or Career Counsellors registered with the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d'orientation du Québec.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the direct provision of medical, psycho-social and/or vocational rehabilitation services (or a combination thereof) to Participants
- Experience conducting medical, psycho-social and/or vocational rehabilitation assessments
- Experience working with persons living with mental or physical health problems creating barriers to civilian life
- Experience analyzing and interpreting medical, psycho-social and/or vocational assessments and making recommendations based upon critical analysis of information leading to the development of a comprehensive plan and program of care, and;
- Experience working with a variety of health professionals and disciplines in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Criteria:
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Experience working with employers, community resources, and training institutions
- Preference given to qualified former CAF members

Job Description:
As a Rehabilitation Service Specialist (RSS), you’re part of a team that delivers a wide range of rehabilitation services to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families. We are an organization of driven and passionate people who are working together to make a difference in the lives of Canadian Veterans and their families. We provide support, care, and recognition that Canadian Veterans and their families deserve.
- Determine required rehabilitation assessments to further assess Participant’s capacity for improvement and clarify rehabilitation needs and coordinate as required
- Ensure services and plans are needs-based, goal-oriented and align to program mandates of improving the six functional domains of well-being and reduce/eliminate barriers to re-establishment and are safe, cost-effective and of high quality
- Develop thorough Rehabilitation Plan for program Participants in consultation with the Participant, their family/caregiver, Rehabilitation Service Professionals (RSPs) and the Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Case Manager
- Act as the service integrator, collaborating equally with medical, psycho-social and vocational RSPs delivering services to participants
- Empower Participant to problem-solve by exploring options of community-based interventions and resources to achieve desired outcomes
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, Counselling, Rehabilitation, Social Sciences, Health Services, Human Services, or a related field and one of the following:
- a health professional designation; or
- Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP or a CVRP-F); OR in Québec, Career Counsellors registered with the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d'orientation du Québec.
- A minimum of (3) year experience in the direct provision of medical, psycho-social or vocational rehabilitation services (or a combination thereof)
- Experience working with persons living with mental or physical health problems creating barriers in life.
- Employment conditional on obtaining federal security clearance – Reliability Status.
- A reliable vehicle and the ability to travel
- Bilingual (French / English)
